% of Revenue Column or other Reference
Add a % of Reference column to the Income Statement and Executive Summary reports, which can reference Revenue, COGS, OpEx, Net Income, specific Category or Sub Category
Displaying percentage values alongside currency figures makes it easier to interpret proportions, identify trends, and make informed decisions quickly without manual calculations. It empowers Users with more dynamic and meaningful financial analysis, facilitating better planning, reporting, and decision-making.
Our standard Report types - Executive Summary and Income Statement - now support the ability for Users to select a reference group and toggle a column that displays the percentage of each account line’s value relative to that reference.
To display the percentage, follow the steps below:
- Click on the Edit Columns within the right menu
- Scroll down to "Show % Columns of" and select your preferred reference option from the dropdown
- The resulting percentage column will appear to the right of each currency column in a column group
Users can choose how to compare each account line by selecting a reference for the percentage calculation. Primary options include: Revenue, COGS, OpEx, and Net Income. Additionally, you can compare values to Category or Sub Category totals for more contextual insights.

| Selection Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Revenue | Shows line item as a percentage of Total Revenue. |
| COGS | Shows line item as a percentage of Total COGS. |
| OpEx | Shows line item as a percentage of Total OpEx. |
| Net Income | Shows line item as a percentage of Net Income. |
| Category | Shows line item as a percentage of its parent Category total. Category references the account’s applicable category rollup. |
| Sub-category | Shows line item as a percentage of its immediate Sub-category total. Sub-Category references the sub-account’s applicable roll-up. |
The percentage is calculated as:
(Line Item / Selected Reference Total) × 100
Example:
If a line item is $10,000 and Total Revenue is $100,000, then:
% of Revenue = (10,000 / 100,000) × 100 = 10%
Category references the account’s applicable category rollup. See the following example:
-
- Subscription Revenue as a % of Total Revenue
- Direct Labor as a % of Total Cost of Sales
- Payroll Related as a % of Total OpEx
- Salaries & Wages as % of Total OpEx
- Facilities as a % of Total OpEx
- Building Rent as % of Total OpEx

Sub Category references the sub-account’s applicable roll-up, for example:
-
- Subscription Revenue as a % of Total Revenue
- Direct Labor as a % of Total Cost of Sales
- Payroll Related as a % of Total OpEx
- Salaries & Wages as % of Total Payroll Related
- Facilities as a % of Total OpEx
- Building Rent as % of Total Facilities

Certain rows should not display a percentage:
- Rows with existing ratio or percentage values (e.g., Gross Margin %, Operating Income %, Net Income %).
- Any custom lines added manually to the report
