Budget Import Guidelines, Overwriting Rules & Troubleshooting:
Guidelines
- There is no "Undo" for the budget import process. Once the data is imported, it cannot be reversed. Always double-check your data before importing to ensure accuracy.
-
Always download a new template to ensure it includes the most up-to-date Chart of Accounts (COA) and data.
-
Don’t move or modify cells A2:B2—these cells are required by Jirav. Removing or editing them will cause the import to fail.
Data Overwriting Rules
-
Imported data overwrites any existing entries or imports in the Plan you are importing to.
-
Manual and imported data are treated equally.
-
Not all accounts need to be included in the template:
-
If an account row is removed, pre-existing data will remain and will not be overwritten.
-
Hidden rows will still be imported.
-
-
Blank cells will not overwrite data.
-
To clear a value, enter 0.
-
Drivers are not impacted by budget imports in any way. Budget imports will not modify or overwrite any driver-based inputs or calculations.
- If the Department field is left blank, the data will be imported to the Unassigned department.
Troubleshooting
-
Import not working? Ensure A2:B2 haven’t been modified.
-
Missing data or accounts? Make sure you’re using the most recent template that includes the most current COA structure.
-
Unexpected imports? Hidden rows are imported, unhide all rows in the import file to check for and remove any unwanted data.
-
Data not clearing? Blank cells will not clear data—enter 0 to clear values.
-
Wrong department? Verify the data in the import file is attributed to the desired department.
-

Helpful Hint: Budget data can also be imported into Custom Tables using an Excel upload.
